Matsena Productions is a company run by Zimbabwean born and Welsh raised brothers Anthony and Kel Matsena.
They were inspired to become dancers after watching their eldest brother ‘Arnold Matsena’ use dance to connect with communities across the UK and as a force to enforce positive change. They soon became a street dancing trio performing on television, at charity events, festivals and events.
Anthony went on to study at Gower College Swansea where he discovered a love for Contemporary dance and soon joined ‘Turning Pointe Academy of Dance Swansea’ and ‘County Youth Dance Company’. Soon after that he went on to study at London Contemporary Dance School and quickly established himself as a choreographer during his training.
Kel also joined the same college and grew to love contemporary dance but more so he discovered his passion for acting. Within a year he was accepted into The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
During their training, they founded ‘Matsena Productions’ as a response to the lack of representation they were seeing in schools, on stage and screen. Using their wide range of skills they have built a passion to drive narratives using a wide range of performance disciplines.
Through their experience of being brought up in an Afrocentric house and having Eurocentric schooling, they have built a love and curiosity for telling stories that express themes of culture, race, change and belonging.
